When I was in middle school, my social studies teacher always had us play a game (I cannot think of the name of the game currently) as a way of studying for our upcoming tests. We would all get counted off into groups or we would randomly pick sticks and get into our groups. When we would play this game we would have to agree on an answer with our group to be able to submit our answer. (It was like Jeporady, but it wasn’t).
The reason this stuck with me all these years is because it pushed us students out of our comfort zones. We wouldn’t always be grouped up with our friends within the class so we were given the opportunity to talk with other students we probably wouldn’t have talked to beforehand. We also all had to agree and sometimes I would be placed with a group that was confident in their answers and groups where no one knew what was going on.
Doing games like this for class not only got us being social with our classmates, which at the time can be vital, but we always had to communicate and collaborate with a new group of people in a new way we hadn’t thought of before.
